August 30, 2022 Meeting

Notes

Events

Jess and Bill will begin adding events to the new events module this week.

Virtual tour

Tyler will provide the link to the main Health Sciences virtual tour video which will replace the Google Street View virtual tour component on the Morgantown Campus page. Once other virtual tour videos are created, he will also create a virtual tour playlist on YouTube.

Shawn inquired about replacing the Google Street View virtual tour component on the STEPS website with a virtual tour video. Tyler is working on the STEPS virtual tour video next which will include footage of the new operating room in the facility, an interview with Dorian Williams, and a focus on diversity.

Shawn reiterated that the STEPS website will be revisited in early 2023 with the virtual tour video becoming a focal point. Currently, the focus on the website has shifted to information for current students and daily operations. Do they need an internal space similar to Hub? We need to ask them about their priorities.

Bill will inquire about simulation week in his next correspondence with the STEPS group.

Tuition

Shawn confirmed that the central tuition will be ready built and displayed throughout the websites by late September.

Jess will provide a general statement to display with tuition about scholarship information at the University-level.

Communication Guide

As we discussed in last week's meeting, to decrease the number of items in the top navigation of the Communication Guide website, it is suggested that the top-level pages in the website be organized into larger "buckets" of information.

Jess and Bill are planning to change the "Quick Links" page into an FAQ-type page. We are still deciding whether to keep the feedback area at the bottom.

Mini-grants

While discussing the Strategic Compass website with Cassie Thomas, she mentioned that leadership wants to highlight "projects" in this website. These "projects" are essentially awarded funds but they don't following the process or restrictions of a traditional grant. She inquired about reusing the research grants template from the WVU Health Research Grants.

Tara and Bill agree with Shawn's proposal to create a Strategic Compass page/section under the WVU Health website with an area for these types of grants under it. Then, these grants can be pulled into the Strategic Compass section of the School of Medicine website and into other websites.
