Undergraduate and Professional Programs
The marketing group has been involved in priority meetings about the undergraduate and professional programs.
Videos
As discussed in a previous meeting, Hannah shared the background video files for the homepage and the Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Students which we will update this afternoon.
Campuses and clinics
We reviewed the templates for displaying information about campuses and the Eastern campus clinics.
While the new clinics page has been added under the About page in Umbraco and the Clinics page has been added under the Eastern Campus page in Umbraco, we are still tweaking some of the design and language throughout.
Cassie suggested adding the option to display a YouTube video in the hero component. She also suggested showing more of the WV state graphic, potentially with counties outlined and highlighted, for presenting the Eastern campus clinics rather than focusing on the panhandle.
We may be able to display or link to the departments and programs affiliated with each campus using the existing campus filter in the Departments and Programs items.
We will review these pages in a more final state in the coming weeks to make sure that this template will work for everyone.
Homepage
We reviewed the upcoming homepage with the updates from our previous discussion.
The functionality of editing the page makes sense to everyone.
Displaying news items more prominently and higher up on the page is a priority along with displaying the social media links lower on the page. We previously discussed adding the ability to reorder the profile area, with the social media links, and the spotlight area, with news.
We agreed that there should be context added to some of the sections using subheadings. Cassie inquired about the ability to turn off some of the components, notably the profile.
Shawn suggested that we create multiple versions of the page, each with a different emphasis, to get a feel for how this page can be minimally structured in different ways.
We discussed the option to display the list of a news in place of the cards in the spotlight area using the "featured" option in SOLE News. This list would be able to accommodate a single featured news item, all of the featured news items, or a custom list of items. She mentioned that the majority of the items emphasized on this page will lead to either a news story or an event.
We will keep this discussion going and continue to iterate with this template through September.
New departments
The board of governors will be approving two new departments to be added under the School of Medicine. Also, the Division of Cardiology will be getting a chair and will probably become a new department.
