September 5, 2023 Meeting

Notes

WVU Health cover

As discussed in a previous meeting, with Diversity Week (September 17-23, 2023), Healthcare Simulation Week (September 18-22, 2023), and Global Health Week overlapping, Jess inquired about the ability to highlight multiple items on a cover page or to highlight multiple internal items along side a recruitment focused message.

Two initial ideas are to either display internal focused messaging along the left side under the navigation or to add an entirely new area between the typical messaging and the static messaging to highlight a particular item or multiple items. With either of these ideas, this may be an opportunity to speak in a tone that helps explain the internal impact to a public audience while being a resource for an internal audience.

Jess suggested potentially highlighting STEPS as the focused item with internal items displayed around it. Shawn reminded us that the initial intention is for the WVU Health homepage to feel like a magazine cover and he suggested potentially creating separate focused "covers", one to highlight each event as the focus, and the "homepage" would feature these focused "covers". Upon discussion, we realize that this concept may fit other upcoming items of focus.

Shawn suggested using a number system to prioritize items on the editorial calendar that we continue to grow.

Diversity Week

Jess mentioned that with 10-15 events happening at Health Sciences for Diversity Week, it probably won't be feasible fill out the Diversity Week page. This page hasn't been of much benefit since when it was first created and it might be worth thinking about whether this page is necessary to keep around.

Research and Graduate Education

Shawn inquired about updates pertaining to the Research and Graduate Education website, and Bill will touch base about this.
