October 2022 Website Meeting

Notes

10-Year Anniversary

We started off the meeting discussing some mix-ups in regards to the 10-Year Anniversary page on the website, specifically the project’s timeline. Dan mentioned that Shawn left on Tuesday and won’t be back for a couple of weeks. Are there any immediate expectations for getting this page ready for the celebrations?

Nikky said initially there was an expectation to have the page design ready by the end of September or the first week of October. Right now, the immediate need is to have at least an introductory statement and a list of the events related to the celebration up on the campaign page. The timeline, though, can come together later as Nikky will use information she’s gathering for a presentation that will be used for the event and will have a lot of overlap.

Events Module

We then discussed the Events Module and some questions and feedback related to that.

Nikky was wondering if it is possible to add images to the event collection pages. In the short-term the answer is no. However, it’ll be a possibility in a future update.

Also, a formatting tweak: Nikky wondered if instances of “10 year” on the Events pages could be changed to “10-year.” This shouldn’t be an issue.

There was some confusion about contact people for events and whether or not those should be required, as in some instances a contact person might not be apparent or event appropriate for an event. For right now, the web team wants to continue to have that be a requirement in the system.

We also discussed if it’s possible to indicate a virtual option without having a URL to link to because one may not have been set up at the time of the event creation in the system. Currently, there isn’t but the team will investigate a way to make that a possibility. We also attempted to clarify the distinction between an event’s summary and description fields.

In regards to the 10-Year Anniversary events, Nikky was wondering how she might go about including information about panelists in the event. We will include the ability to add the panelists’ information under the 10-Year campaign page, similar to the speakers and panelist listings for the WV Policy and Research Symposium section from a couple of years ago. Once this is set up, then this listing page can be included as a link on the event pages.

Analytics in Cabin

Finally, Dan shared with us a new tool he has created that will allow Bill to create pages that summarize the past month’s analytics data. This new report in Cabin will be similar to the PDF reports Bill has emailed us the past few months.
