March 2022 Website Meeting

Notes

Our monthly meeting for March was rather brief, as there weren’t many large updates that needed to be shared with the group.

Newsroom and Events

Shawn reported that the updates to the News system continue to progress.

Additionally, Rachel is getting super close to having the new Events module complete. We briefly discussed what this will mean once this new system is in place. In particular, the Events module will help handle a lot of the landing page use cases. Having a pre-built system like this will be helpful when something last-minute pops up that requires a promotional piece on the site.

Summer plans

Shawn says that as we get past Commencement and into the summer months, we can begin to look into revisiting some things about the website design-wise that have become stale, and give some aspects of the site minor refreshes.

Nikky took this opportunity to express her displeasure with the burnt orange-colored buttons used throughout the site. The web team welcomes this kind of feedback.

Google Analytics and Cabin features

Finally, we briefly touched on some of the things that Bill is working on for the school in Google Analytics and Data Studio. He didn’t have anything to present to the group during this meeting, but indicated that he is working on some things that he’ll be able to present in the coming months.

Shawn also added that we will be incorporating and surfacing some data straight from Analytics and Data Studio in Cabin. This will help make key statistics and metrics easily accessible to everyone in the Cabin interface.

Nikky also updated us on her efforts to get additional staff hired to help with maintaining the school’s site. While the process is much slower than she wishes it would be, there seems to be some positive developments surrounding this and she should be getting some of that needed help here in the near future.
