March 2020 Website Meeting

Notes

Data Dictionary update

Jason began the meeting by providing a quick update on the progress of the O.H.S.R. data dictionary project. Divya had received training on how to use Umbraco, but earlier this week she contacted the web team help desk to get some questions about the process answered. Not being aware of the details of the project, Jason was called in to sit down with Divya for a couple minutes, going over the data entry process for the dictionary. Since then, Divya has been working on the task and at the time of this meeting there have been 294 fields entered into the system, which is close to the total amount of records in the spreadsheet provided at the start of the project.

National Public Health Week

The school is requesting a promotional page for National Public Health Week once again. Last year, as a quick solution for this page, the Dean’s Colloquium content type and template were re-purposed. Minor adjustments were made to that content type, namely changing the list of past events into the list of upcoming events happening throughout the week.

When Nikky and Jessica went to restore last year’s page from the Recycle Bin in Umbraco in order to re-use it, they received an error. This was due to a permissions issue, which Dan was able to fix not long after the meeting concluded. However, there’s still an error preventing the actual page from being displayed, but editing of the page is unaffected. The web team will work to correct these issues and make additional improvements to have this pattern be more robust and reusable going forward. The web team will look to have a lot of this resolved in time for Nikky and Jessica to be able to begin reviewing the information with their internal people on Monday.

New program page follow-up

Nikky let us know that she is still working on getting the new program page that was mentioned in the last meeting. She is hoping to have that up very soon.

New P.R.C. website update

Nikky also let us know that she had met with the Prevention Research Center team about their new website. The work on getting the new site set up is still on-going. That team brought on a new person to help with the website, so some of the progress has been delayed due to getting the person set up with their Umbraco account and being trained. Nikky said she will check in with Micah to get a better understanding of how close they are to having everything ready to go.

Diversity follow-up

Nicky said that it looks like she is going to be out of the office for a little while as she recovers so she won't be working. She is going to work with Wendy to get a direction on the Who We Are/Diversity stuff. She mentioned that she knows that Wendy’s plate is pretty full and that Wendy obviously isn’t familiar with the school, and that her and Jessica are going to spearhead the project. Things might just take longer since she'll be at home recovering.

O.H.S.R. video

There is a video being produced for O.H.S.R., and we discussed briefly about the best way to go about adding it to the website. Since it’s not something that needs to be prominently displayed—for example, in the feature area of a landing page—it’ll most likely live on a standard content page. Jessica thinks the embedded video macro should work well enough for this use case.
