Master of Health Administration content review

Lindsay has been continuing her review of the Public Health website and its content. An area of focus has been evaluating details about the Master of Health Administration program information, as it is will be going through an accreditation approval process later this year.

Lindsay has been in contact with France Weaver, the director of the program. France has provided Lindsay with a document outlining improvements she would like to see regarding information on the site about the program, including having frequently asked questions on the site as well as links to the Admissions website. Lindsay thinks these updates will be needed by the end of the semester.

Program news

One of the requests was to have news specific to the program included on the program’s main page. However, there doesn’t appear to be a program- or department-level subcategory in the News system specific to MHA. Lindsay is also unsure there has been or will be enough stories to justify having one.

Hub and internal content

A lot of internal-focused content has been slowly migrating to the school’s Hub section, which is great. However, Tara and Jessica have pointed out to Lindsay that some content on Hub–specifically the school’s “Standard Operating Guidelines”–simply refers back to a hidden section on the public website. Ideally, this content would be migrated off of the public site and into Hub. This was probably originally done before Hub became the home for more internal content.

Structure of program information

Another recommendation France offered was to organize content by program rather than department.

Lindsay also had questions about how information and content updates were conveyed to the WVU Online website. Lindsay has concerns about how content about the school’s online programs could easily get out of sync, and wondered what the workflow was like to ensure that the Online site has the appropriate details. Typically, the web team has little to no interaction with the Online website maintainers, as we have no access to update or maintain content on that site. It has always been assumed that the people who handle the Online website either have routine communication with school staff, or they glean information and updates through other means.

Other programs

Lindsay informed us of the plan to reduce the number of undergraduate programs being offered by the school to one. The other undergrad programs may be taught out, but we weren’t sure if it would make sense to continue to include such program’s information on the website in these cases.

Lindsay is going to be working on updated flyers and other print pieces based off of the updated program structure.
