February 2021 Website Meeting

Notes

Mask survey update

Progress continues to be made on getting the results of the ongoing campus mask survey on the school’s website. The content will be able to be edited in Umbraco. Rachel is getting the last few pieces of that system in working order. Nikky asked if the section would be ready by the middle of the week of February 15. The web team believes that is feasible. Nikky also informed the group that the C.D.C. is putting together a data graphic which has a lot of similarities to the design that Rachel and the web team have settled on. Everyone seemed to take this as a sign that we went in the right direction with this project.

I.C.R.C. site migration

With the decision to move the Injury Control Research Center (I.C.R.C.) website out from underneath of the Public Health website, Nikky had some questions on how that process will work. Shawn said that he doesn’t foresee Nikky needing to give oversight on that process. In the past, processes like this—where a site needed to be moved from a school-level to a Health campus-level—were something that Dave would handle. Tara and Shawn are thinking through how this will work going forward, especially with getting the necessary editors access to the site’s new location.

This process isn’t quite so straightforward, as the campus’s websites are spread out over multiple Umbraco servers: one for each of the schools, one for the main Health website and its sub-sites, and one for the miscellaneous other sites that also need to be housed. Currently, the I.C.R.C. site is served from the same server as the Public Health website, but it’s new home will be on the server that hosts the Health website, which slightly complicates the process and is the reason why the web team must be involved. Additionally, editors for the site will need to have accounts created on this other server. Shawn will look into the details for all of this. Nikky mentions that in the interim, it’s very possible that leadership may question why this site still exists under Public Health, but Shawn says that the whole process should be resolved by mid-March.

Google Analytics updates

Looking back at the notes from January’s meeting, Nikky brought up the task of upgrading Google Analytics on the school site and whether there is any update to share. Shawn is still working on getting that started. He has added this to the web team’s calendar, and the ambition was to get this started in January but other things popped up and slightly delayed the plans.

Day of Giving preparations

It was announced that the date for this year’s Day of Giving has been set for March 3. Shawn was curious if Nikky or Jessica knew of anything that is unique to the school for this event that should be included on the website in some way. Nikky noted that in 2019, a video for the day was produced. She also mentioned that social campaigns and other messaging around Day of Giving has been discussed.
