February 2020 Website Meeting

Notes

Updates on the PRC website launch

After some delays, Nikky was eventually able to meet with the people from the Prevention Research Center (PRC). She was able to discuss plans moving forward with migrating their site to the new design. She had suggestions for them on how to make their content a bit more engaging. She also mentioned that the PRC has an intern who is helping to move the process along. Ultimately, the goal is to have the new site launched by March.

OHSR Data Dictionary progress update

Since our meeting in January, and after a thread of clarifying emails, development has progressed on the OHSR Data Dictionary project. The dictionary is now set up in Umbraco, and it includes a small subset of the data from the dictionary that is being used for testing purposes. Divya has been added as an editor on that particular site, and once she is trained on how to use the CMS the data entry phase of the project can commence.

There had been a proposal from the OHSR team to use a third-party solution for this project, but Shawn is against that and provided Nikky with his reasoning for sticking with our in-house Umbraco-based solution. Nikky says she will communicate those reasons to the OHSR team, and doesn’t expect much resistance.

All of this being said, we believe that it is still feasible to have this project finished in time for the OHSR community event happening later this month.

Various content updates

Both Nikky and Shawn gave us some small updates for some content-related tasks.

New programs for the school

Nikky informed the group that there are a couple new programs the school will be beginning to offer in the near future, including a certification program and a Bachelor of Science program. She is currently coordinating and gathering the information for the pages that will need to be added to the site.

New session of the Dean’s Colloquium series

Nikky also mentioned that there will be a new session for the Dean’s Colloquium series, so she will be adding that information to the site.

Tuition

Soon, Shawn will be emailing all of the communicators with updated Tuition pages to review. This will happen before we finally make those pages publicly accessible.

Commencement

Shawn also mentioned that Commencement is quickly approaching. Schools should start thinking about their information before other Commencement-related tasks start eating up more of their time.

F.A.Q. for the M.H.A. program page

Nikky also mentioned a F.A.Q. document that is being worked on for the Master of Health Administration program. She plans to simply add this beneath the program page.

Financial Aid

Nikky says she plans to make updates to the school’s financial aid and scholarship information currently on the site, but she considers those changes to be minor in scope.

Diversity initiatives

Once again, we discussed the new initiatives around diversity at the school and on campus, and we learned that Nikky has begun participating as a member of the team that is responsible for leading that charge.

Shawn informed everyone that Rachel and the design team have a design in the works for what a school-level diversity section may end up looking like. The design for this “Who We Are” section is still in-progress. In fact, a discussion in the web team’s meeting yesterday helped to slightly pivot on what kinds of content might live in this new section.

Nikky then asked if there was any sense of a timeline for when this might begin to be implemented. Shawn optimistically thinks things could start rolling out in April. Nikky then reminded us of their school’s accreditation process happening in April. She asked if Public Health could be one of the first schools to implement “Who We Are”, as it could potentially help with that process. As it so happens, Rachel has been designing her prototype using the SPH website’s styles, so this is very feasible.

Berberine supplements

Finally, Nikky introduced everyone to the apparent benefits of taking berberine supplements.
