4/4/19 Meeting

Notes

What We Discussed

  • University Related Jargon/AbbreviationsKim had some questions for David Ryan about this. I informed him in the SOD meeting that he needed to get in contact with Kim to discuss her concerns.
  • Cabin – We briefly discussed a project we are working on that will hopefully make you and all the other communicators lives easier, and ours too! This will hopefully centralize most of the things we have put together for you guys over the years. We don’t have a ton of info on this right now, but we will certainly let you know when we have some fun news to share!
  • Hub – As you know, we are working on a project as a hub for internal content. This is hopefully going to be launched in the next few weeks! Kim had some questions about what the scope of the Hub will entail and what the timeline is as it launches. Shawn explained that the scope is basically to get all the internal junk some of our schools have on their public facing website, and dump it into a more controllable environment. We understand that this is different on a school-to-school basis, and not a one-size-fits-all solution. Shawn highly recommended using SOLE for things you feel make sense there! We will definitely help work with you to make sure that people aren’t just suddenly unable to get to resources on your website as we transition through the time following the launch.
  • WVCTSI Research – We ended up discussing the upcoming WVCTSI Research Listing. It is a work in progress, and they’re hoping to launch around the end of the month. It is being made to hold research of all the schools. Apparently most research grants go through WVCTSI, so this will become the home for all of that information. I know right now we don’t have a ton of solid details on this for you, but we should hopefully have more for you soon!
  • Slack – We discussed in the meeting that we have started adding communicators into our messaging software, Slack. This has proven to be beneficial for the ones we’ve added into slack! This gives us a more direct and relaxed line of contact, which will allow you to throw things in if you want to remember them for the next meeting or have anything else you’d like to discuss. We will work to get you added in and let you know as soon as you are.
  • Student Resources – Following our last meeting, we talked about adding a bar for Policies and Forms. Upon trying to make that work, we realized it may not make a ton of sense design wise. This worked out for the better, as we all ended up discussing it further and it sounds like the Student Handbook is what we actually want to highlight. Whenever we can confirm that this is the direction we want to go, we can change the top bar to be three column. This also led us to discuss the “Get Involved” area. We agreed to shuffle things around a bit. We agreed that you can move the Yellow Ribbon program link into the “Additional Resources” area. We will then make all the other links in “Getting Involved” the same weight by giving them all icons.
