2/11/19 Meeting

Notes

What We Discussed

  • Deans Colloquium Page – We presented the new Deans Colloquium design (attached screenshots png and DCsingle.png), which we decided to pivot based off of some very good questions and clear needs from Kim about the initial design. Kim was pleased with the direction we had taken it based off her feedback. We agreed to a few tweaks (making talk titles links, allowing More Information buttons to link to press releases [and in the future, content pages]). We also discussed the choice of directing people to press releases vs. sub-pages – in the immediate future, we can link to press releases, but down the road having that content also living on your website would be very beneficial. We can eventually build out those pages to be much more designed.
  • ICRC/Subsite Navigation – Kim mentioned that someone was confused as to how to get back to the base ICRC website once they’ve gone deeper into the website. We talked about a few solutions in the meeting but agreed to discuss a solution as a team. We will get back to you about this once we think we’ve got the right thing.
  • About/What is Public Help – Kim gave us a heads up that this section will be getting some content in the future. We agreed that we will work with her to look at that section and improve it by giving it a landing page and building it out further when she was ready.
  • Strategic Planning – This is currently live. Kim has no issues and is pleased.
  • Residency Programs – At this point, Kim has not yet received the content updates to this. Once she has, we will make the Students Page changes.
  • Student Announcements – We will make sure this is done before the next meeting. Kim also mentioned that the layout of the feed being two column is a little strange. We agreed to make them full-width as a solution.
  • Welcome Jessica! – Thank you for joining us! Here’s a list of references/helpful tips:
    • Feature Area
      • Photography – Our feature areas best accommodate landscape images with right side focus, as text is on the left. The subject should be in the right 1/3rd of the photo, leaving 2/3rds of space for text. We also recommend leaving space above the subject to leave room for the photo scaling down as the website is shown on smaller screens.
      • Examples and Documentations
