Health Sciences Center (HSC) Newsroom
Shawn opened the meeting by mentioning updates starting off with the new Health Sciences Center (HSC) Newsroom. He said we will probably demo the new newsroom will look on the back end either next month or in June. During our next couple meetings we will be able to show a demo. The idea will be to show you what this initially looks like and, throughout the summer, allow most of our units test functionality out. The testers will be able to give us some feedback for improvements.
Pharmacy Diversity, Inclusion, Equity (DEI) Page
Shawn mentioned that we have been working on the DEI page but he had nothing to show just yet. Next week week we will sit down and discuss this a little bit and then we could send her an email with an update on things so she can check it out. Our goal is to get that up as soon as we can. Will have something concrete in the next week or week and a half.
Cook Hayman Pharmacy Museum
The Cook Haymen Pharmacy museum was under support us in the past but we were thinking that we could probably move that that to under the about section. Christa thinks it will be a good place. Matt will move this section to the about. Christa mentioned that recently she had several people call to try to schedule a reservation to view it and they couldn't find it where it currently is located. Upon further investigation the entire "Support Us" section was unpublished which would explain why people could not locate the museum since this effectively remove it from the active website. Matt has now moved this to its new home under about us - https://pharmacy.wvu.edu/about/cook-hayman-pharmacy-museum/.
Pharmacy Commencement Page
Christa updated the commencement page to reflect 2023. Shawn mentioned it is currently located under Student Affairs > Office of Admissions section. Christa mentioned that it is currently located in a location where no one would be able to locate it. She asked where the other schools have their commencement pages located.
Shawn mentioned that the other schools have it located under student services section. We have talked about adding information to point people to it from the student oriented pages and in some cases mention it on the homepage. Most of the schools have just made a call out to it from the students page to direct people to it from there. We should be able to work on this a little next week.
Christa asked for a URL so she can send it to Skylar(Sp?) because they have sent her a couple of emails asking for the link. Shawn will send her the current url: https://pharmacy.hsc.wvu.edu/student-services/wvu-school-of-pharmacy-may-commencement-ceremony-2023/ whihc can be substituted for the slightly shorter version ( https://pharmacy.wvu.edu/student-services/wvu-school-of-pharmacy-may-commencement-ceremony-2023/ ), where the pharmacy.hsc.wvu.edu becomes pharmacy.wvu.edu.
On the students page ( https://pharmacy.wvu.edu/students/ ) we could add a space between the feature and the programs to call out the commencement information.
Shawn also suggested that she could also reach out to get one of those go.wvu links as a shorter URL solution. Christa mentioned that she has access to this and Shawn suggested she could create a "/pharmacy-commencement" or something else shorter that could be the viewer friendly URL that you share with media.
