School of Pharmacy Residency Homepage Mock-up

Shawn showcased the completed School of Pharmacy Residency homepage refresh that they requested on the CDN at https://cdn.hsc.wvu.edu/CustomDesigns/Pharmacy2021/Residency-Program-Home and was not live yet.  We tried to keep everything they requested in mind by moving some of the statistics up the homepage and place a greater focus on profile.  He mentioned to Christa that she can let us know what she thinks and then send it over to the stakeholder group for approval. If the are good with the design we can go ahead and get it built for the website.

Christa received the design positively and liked it.  She will sent the link and then copy Bill on the email.  Even thought she has the link in her browser, we will put the link to the CDN in the cabin notes and can also send it to her.

Google Analytics

Bill shared the google analytics.  Shawn checked Decembers against Novembers to see if there were any major trend changes in web traffic.  Bill is still concerned about the long average time on the pages and will see if it fades over time.  The data lined up with previous months without anything too surprising.  Christa mentioned that we need the PharmD or the DAP to be higher on the analytics this time of the year.

School of Pharmacy Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Page

Christa mentioned that if we started to redo some things to spice up the website.  Shawn mentioned early last year we had a "who we are" page for public health ( https://publichealth.wvu.edu/who-we-are/ ) that was made to emphasize culture diversity and inclusive stuff.   Shawn mentioned that the Pharmacy about page ( https://pharmacy.hsc.wvu.edu/about/ ) lists their offices and some location information which is good but we would redesign this page to highlight culture, program / student fit, and other similar recruitment stuff.  We would bring in some student profiles.  This would then set the tone of how we want viewers to step into some of the pages like students and admissions.

The "Who we are" page is going to be a refresh not just from our end but from the communication groups as well.  We want to elevate those pieces of marketing content with the intent to help people see themselves here and to see experiences of current students already enrolled.  This will be the big point of focus for 2023.

This will introduce some new design patterns to be used for the other landing pages.  We could use the about page as the beginning of the site refresh and a massive content refresh.  Once the about page is finished we would continue with the students page.  Outside of that, we will want to go back and refresh some of the department and program pages to be a little bit more marketing forward.   Refreshing the general department template for pharmacy could also be a possibility.

Christa mentioned that the website has been stagnant for a while.   Christa is part of the DEI committee and they have been pushing to get a page up.  Shawn mentioned that the "who we are" page will act as a central pillar for DEI information.  Stemming from the conversations we had with Courtney, this page is important as the central place for all of those things and it boils down to utilizing profiles throughout the website, weaving those into the "who you are" page, and then pointing out to the profiles.   The goal would be to have the website's content speak to those things as well, going hand in hand with the "who we are" page.

On our end, we must think about how to build a page that does a lot of those marketing things well.  Take the public health "who we are" page as an example.  It has a profile first,  then some student information with statistics, and then more of the cultural get to know us stuff.  Even though there is still an about page in public health, the "who we are" page is basically the about page adding a conversation for perspective students / faculty asking them what makes the school of public health engaging and interesting.  It is taking the about page and mixing in all the DEI things and then making it a more engaging page.  The goals of the who we are is changes from school to school so Pharmacy might be unique.  Each school has uniquer challenges and goals.

Shawn mentioned if Christa had a document that if she wanted to share to send to us and we can start taking a look at it.  Christa shared the screen of a mock up that she had in Canva with us during the zoom meeting.  She will send us the link later so we can review and look into it.   Her layout was a statement, testimonial from students, what is DEI section, meeting our committee, blurb about why the members want to be on the committee, a little place for DEI news, our story section, and finally a place to report a concern.  They are still working on the language for this.  There will be different stories one with "Moms who give hugs", they are going to be at the WVU basketball game.  Another story about a person who visited from Taiwan.

Shawn mentioned that if she ever wanted to mock up something in Canva for us this would be helpful to visualize what her and the group have been thinking about in terms of hierarchy.  These proposed ideas would be applicable to the "who we are" pages.

Closing

Next week we could start building out the initial nuts and bolts of the "who we are" page.  Completion could be March or early April where we could have something people could engage with before we make it live.  We could piece stuff together beginning this month and then work through February.

Christa will share the link of the Pharmacy Residency Homepage (https://cdn.hsc.wvu.edu/CustomDesigns/Pharmacy2021/Residency-Program-Home) with the stakeholders and get back to us on the approval status.

Christa mentions she would make a private URL of the Canva mockup and send it you us via slack or email.  We will update her on progress as we begin the build.
