Publications

Departments have expressed the need to present the top faculty publications in their websites. Shawn suggested that these groups organize and update the publications for each faculty member in their Directory profiles. Then, these publications can be pulled from each Directory profile to display in each website.

This is expected to be implemented mid-January 2022.

In addition to this, departments have expressed the need to present a short biography about their personal interests. In addition to the Short Bio and Long Bio fields for a Directory profile, Cassie suggested adding a new field for "personal interests" to separate professional and personal interests.

Microbiology, Immunology & Cell Biology

Several faculty and staff under the Microbiology, Immunology & Cell Biology department in Directory are using the View Website button to link to personal websites and pages.

Zane has discussed his concerns with this with Shawn and Jimmy.

Graduate students

Zane and Cassie reached out to the Department of Neuroscience and confirmed that graduate students are considered employees. Should these graduate students have Directory profiles? Is the reason that many graduate students don't have a Directory profile because they only have a WVU Medicine email address?

Also, Morgan Prunty left.

Update 1/26/2022

Shawn, Dan, Cassie, and Zane discussed potential alternatives to listing more Directory profiles with additional information. We will review Directory profiles overall and think about how they can potentially be improved to show more personality both of the individual and of the associated school or organization. These tasks are put on hold in the meantime.

Departments and Programs

We reviewed the updated Departments and Programs page with residencies and fellowships listed with each department, majors listed with each program, and departments listed with each related center and institute.

Zane suggested moving the "clerkships" term from the Category filter to the Group filter. Cassie mentioned that Dr. Ferrari may determine that the "clerkships" term isn't a relevant filter at all.

Cassie suggested removing the Departments, Centers, and Centers & Institutes group from each item. Zane pointed out that the tags in each item becomes overwhelming when many are listed.

Cassie requested that we AB test the page with and without the group displayed as they review this new page with faculty and staff.

Physical Therapy

Zane mentioned that the Physical Therapy group finds it confusing that the Faculty & Staff link in the top navigation links to the school's Faculty and Staff Resources page rather than to the group's Faculty & Staff page as the top navigation items do in the older subsite pages (departments).

The purpose of using a vertical navigation in these updated subsite pages is to accommodate the abundance of items and uniquely named items that subsites need to list in navigation and to better establish the hierarchy of the subsite within the school website.

One solution that Cassie suggested is to combine the school-level Faculty & Staff Resources page with the About page to create a Who We Are page.

Hub

Cassie inquired about the status of accessing the School of Medicine section of the Hub website and suggested that many of the resources in the current Faculty & Staff Resources section can be moved to the Hub.
