Notes

Directory

Shawn stated that personal information of any kind, including personal interests, should not be added to a Directory profile due to the ongoing concern about the security liabilities. The information in Directory is already much more extensive and available compared the University's directory tool to help fit the needs of the Health schools and adding more personalized information could jeopardize having more extensive information altogether.

Shawn is going to discuss putting written policies in place with Jimmy and Tara, including in the Website Content Guide, for the School of Medicine Communications group to share with editors and staff.

One alternative to putting personal interest information in Directory is for campuses, departments, and programs to talk more broadly about the personal interests of the entire group.

CMS Desk tickets

The ITS CMS Support group made changes to their ticketing system that caused some support tickets to become mixed-up. Shawn assured Cassie that these tickets definitely have not been lost.

Departments and Programs

Cassie shared the current iteration of the Departments and Programs page with Azalea Hulbert to review. Here is her feedback:

First question - I assume that there will be options for undergraduate and professional levels, in addition to doctoral and masters?

Second - I think where I'm getting a bit hung up is with the "group" section. I think that will be confusing, especially for undergraduates (and their parents), who may not understand the distinction between departments, programs, and centers/institutes. So, to formulate this as a question, I guess I would ask who the intended audience is for this page. I feel the idea of "groups" will make sense for internal users - but if this will be used for recruitment purposes, I think some tweaks will be needed.

(Just thinking here - that could even involve some categorization for the filter tools... "Considering pursuing a degree in the SoM? Filter by degree level." "Want to learn more about the units that make up the SoM? Filter by group." That kind of thing.)

We agreed that names of each filter need to be clearer and more catered to new users. We will break each of the "Group" items into checkboxes for "Centers & Institutes", "Programs", and "Departments", and we will add "Residencies" and "Fellowships" to these items. Also, we will add "Post-Doc" to the Degree Level or Program filter.

Exercise Physiology

The Exercise Physiology group inquired about adding a news feed to each of their major pages.

We agreed that the volume of stories pertaining to a major will be so few that it would be best to continue highlighting these stories on the program's front page.

In upcoming Newsroom application highlighting and labeling a particular post will become easier and clearer with the ability to build a "package" which is a curated group of posts to display on a page in the website.

Cassie suggested adding the ability to schedule or add an expiration date on a post and on a package.
