April 7, 2022 Meeting

Notes

MD Program

Dr. Ferrari is ready to work through restructuring the MD Program content to fit the structure of the other recently updated program sections and he has appointed staff to work on this with Cassie and Zane. They are meeting soon to discuss this section of the website.

Departments and Programs

We reviewed the most recent version of the Departments and Programs template with the concept for choosing to search the name of and filter on Departments, Programs, Residencies, Fellowships, and Centers & Institutes using a select dropdown. The labels for the degree levels and areas of interests filters are changed to questions and use checkboxes instead. Dan is still working through making these filters functional.

Strategic Compass

We will review the initial Strategic Compass during the semi-monthly check-in meeting on April 21.

HSC Directory macro

Several groups are either duplicating HSC Directory macros resulting with often listing 100+ people on a single page or using too many macros to list groups of people on a single page resulting in a slow loading page.

Editors should preview each page when they make an edit to a macro to ensure that the desired edits are made correctly.

When a list of people needs to be split into several groups, a separate page should be created rather than listing these groups on a single page.

Sam will address these issues on the Eye Institute Faculty and Staff page.

Profiles

We will review the "self-created" Spotlight on Advisors profiles in the Department of Medical Education website when we begin working through restructuring the MD Program section.

Guides

We discussed writing guides in the Website Content Guide to explain best practices for presenting specific types of content. Zane mentioned that it would be very helpful to have a guide for using the HSC Directory Macro and Shawn proposed writing guides for generating content for specific events including Match Day, Doctor's Day, National Public Health Week, etc.

Bill suggested that he send out a content editing "tip" in internal WVU Health emails.
