April 21, 2022 Meeting

Notes

Strategic Compass

We reviewed the first iteration of the Strategic Compass front page. Tara and Bill joined us.

Values

Cassie mentioned that Aira is working on creating icons for each of the KEEP items under Values.

Zane shared the content structure for the values subpage and for each KEEP item. Profiles and news stories will be displayed in each item's area of the page.

We agreed that these should be presented in a more engaging way and each item should link to the corresponding area of the Values subpage. Zane will provide very brief descriptions to display with each item.

Charts and graphs

Tara inquired about the presentation of charts and graphs throughout the website and about whether any should be presented on the front page. She mentioned that the group working on this is very outcome driven.

Once we have the data that needs to be presented in a chart or graph and we know exactly how the data is desired to be presented, then we can build any charts or graphs in the website with the data fed from an interface in Umbraco.

We agreed that a figure should be presented on the front page with a call to action to view the corresponding charts and/or graphs.

Strategic priorities

Zane inquired about adding the sub navigation component to the right of the video on the front page.

Zane shared the content structure for the strategic priorities subpage(s).

Each priority will include:

  • a lead-in (provided by Zane)
  • listing the 5 goals
  • listing the associated committees
  • profiles
  • news stories
  • messages from the priority lead, etc.
  • rich text area

Departments and Programs

Cassie's group will work on adding and correcting the items listed on this page while Dan will work on making the remaining filters functional.

Recruitment

We met with Julie Day and Azalea Hulbert to discuss presenting and managing labs in each program and across the School of Medicine website.

While other programs have requested to present labs, Azalea wants to start with Exercise Physiology first.

Shawn proposed the idea of have a labs page under each research section of each relevant department that all of the labs are added to. Then, listing pages can be added along side this labs page to group labs and to add more information about each group.

We agreed that the way that large groups of faculty and staff are listed using the HSC Directory macro seems bulky and that providing an alternative condensed pattern with less information might be beneficial.
