8/2/2019 Meeting

Notes

MD Profiles

Cassie, Dan, and Shawn met on July 16th to discuss the order that the MD profiles under the Who We Are area are displayed. We agreed that the best solution might be to divide the profiles into sections based on each student's year in the program (MS1, MS2, etc.). Dan and Shawn are looking into how to accomplish this solution.

Listing Alumni and Some Graduates

In the HVI meeting that Cassie and Dan attended on May 7th, the Section of Cardiology group expressed a need to list alumni on their website, each with a very brief bio, to aid in resident recruitment. Cassie suggested that we should find a solution for listing alumni consistently throughout the website. Tara and Aishina agreed that we can use the "Basic Directory Listing" page type for listing alumni in department and program sections, and as long as the school has an abundance of website editors, we will need to set aside time at least once a year to search through the website for listed alumni to ensure that this consistent structure is being used. This is similar to how residents are listed throughout departments and programs.

Similarly, the Rural Track Program group has expressed a need to list Rural Health graduates and where they will become residents, and we agreed that the "Basic Directory Listing" page type can be reused for this as well.

Dan will add a new page type to Umbraco for listing resident matches and alumni in department sections.

Immunology and Medical Microbiology

Aishina was working with Evie and Lindsay to add program information to the IMMB subsite.

Aishina inquired about changing the items in the top navigation of this section to reflect the pages within this section rather than the pages within the main School of Medicine website. They're currently have "Students" and "Contact Us" pages, and they're working on an "About Us" page and a potential "Research" page.

One of two different templates are being used for each of the root-level pages for each of the professional and undergraduate programs. Because Exercise Physiology, Health Informatics and Information Management, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies are considered "Divisions", these use a "Department" style page type. The Immunology and Medical Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Pathologists' Assistant use a landing page style page.

That said, we agreed that these page types should be more consistent. We will meet with Lindsay Pecosh to discuss this.

Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry Addiction Services

Cassie created an "Addiction Services" page in the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry website to gather the information about the new WVU Medicine Center for Hope and Healing and the services that they provide.

Cassie is going to set up a meeting with Sheena (sp?), Megan (sp?), herself, Shawn, and Dan to discuss how this information should be displayed on the School of Medicine website and how the information impacts the recent discussions around addiction information at WVU. Additionally, Shawn is going to talk to Tara next week about the state of the Addressing Addiction website.

Undergraduate and Professional Programs Campaign Page

Cassie provided the drafted content for the Undergraduate and Professional Programs Campaign Page, and mentioned that she has access to the Buzzfeed Quiz that Dan Walsh drafted so that we can embed it into the page once it is completed.

Cassie mentioned that the Buzzfeed Quiz component probably isn't going to work due to conflict of interest among faculty. We will move forward with creating this page, keeping in mind that some sort of "quiz-like" element will be added.

Welcome Week 2019

We agreed to reuse the Welcome Week page from 2018 with an updated feature image. Cassie suggested that Zane can be tasked with choosing a new image to use in the feature next week.

Summer 2019 (Ongoing)

In the April meeting, Cassie mentioned focusing on updating department websites and implementing her proposed content and hierarchy updates to the main School of Medicine website over the summer. In addition to this, we agreed to start thinking about what the school wants to have on the website pertaining to Welcome Week and resources for undergraduate, graduate, and MD students.

Department of Medicine Residents Page

Vicki brought a request from Sheri Campbell to add an Instagram button with an Instragram icon to the Department of Medicine Residents page. We don't typically add social media icons to content pages throughout the website. The "Visit Our Facebook Page" button has been a topic of concern in past discussions.

Shawn suggested that the Department of Medicine Residents page become more engaging and useful (potentially using a landing page style template), thus allowing for the Connect area to be displayed on this page.

Cassie suggested that Zane can be tasked with strategizing how department pages and areas can be updated to better accommodate the information in each.
