8/19/2021 Meeting

Notes

Recipe blog

TheĀ Culinary and Lifestyle Medicine Track group requested a "blog" structured area to post and categorized recipes from their students. The updated SOLE news application will include a new post type for blog entries, and the Undergraduate Blog structure could be used for this in the interim.

While the updated SOLE news application is being built, this group will fix the content in the rest of their website and flush out what content they plan to have for the blog.

Linking to Google Docs

Evie inquired about whether linking to Google Docs is allowed. Due to the risk of sensitive information ending up in a Google Doc, it is a security risk to link to a Google Doc.

Highlighting events on program pages

We discussed having the ability to link to relevant events from a program page. While the web group is working on an updated way of adding and presenting events in Umbraco that will make listing events on major pages easier, we agreed to add an announcement-type card, similar to the tuition card, to link to more information about an event in a content page under the program.

Subcategories in the news feed for subspecialty or research pages

The sections in the Department of Medicine requested adding "subspecialty subcategories" to add research focused news to and having the ability to present this news on each of their front pages. We agreed that adding the condensed news component as seen on the program pages will suffice.

Shawn explained that the updated SOLE news application will solve the issue with groups throughout Health Sciences sharing their research stories with the Health Sciences research secondary category in SOLE news.

Virtual tour

We agreed to adding two buttons to the bottom of the "What You'll Do" area on each program page, one to the Health Sciences virtual tour and the other to the STEPS virtual tour.

Tyler is working with Cassie to create theĀ "video tour" of the Physical Therapy program facilities to put on their website to meet accreditation requirements. The school is hoping to capture photos and videos to showcase areas in place of the missing Google Maps Street Views.

Biochemistry editors

The Department of Biochemistry has too many editors in Umbraco which potentially causes program information become inaccurate. Shawn suggested that the Office of Research and Graduate Education and the basic sciences departments work together to fund a position for a single editor to edit this content in both websites.

Departments and Programs

Cassie has a few concerns about the amount of items in the Departments and Programs page along with the naming of these items. She still wants to launch the Departments and Programs page in September.

Department and research pages

Cassie mentioned that refreshing department and research page templates will soon be on the agenda. These templates will follow the same structure and design of the residency and program pages.

Cassie wants to start with the Department of Medicine since it's the largest department, and we'll work with Haleigh to use the marketing print material she's working on for the direction of this section.

Videos on backpages under a program

We will add the ability to feature a video on a content page under a program.

Division of Anatomy

Cassie will talk to Tara about the role of the Division of Anatomy in the School of Medicine and what "division" actually means. Cassie agreed that we can remove the "Division of" from the Anatomy pages.

Tuition

The Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, and, Immunology and Medical Microbiology programs are either presenting tuition information in their website or linking to a link outside of the School of Medicine website. There are two tuition pages for the MD Program.

The direction for presenting tuition overall needs to be decided by Clay Marsh and WVU Financial Aid. Cassie will discuss this with Tara.
