3/5/2020 Meeting

Notes

MD Student Organizations

Zane reviewed the sample Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society page with Kim Helmick to identify the strengths and weaknesses.

We agreed to make the following edits:

  • Add the option to add a single photo directly after the page heading area and above the main content area
  • Add the ability to add sub pages to certain organizations to manage lengthier content such as members lists
  • Add a field specifically for "Mission/Values"
  • Add a "Contact" button for contacting a selected contact person

Zane will follow up by creating a Wufoo form for Kim to send out to groups to populate these pages.

Undergraduate and Professional Programs

Evie has expressed concern with profiles being listed in a central section of the website. She finds it confusing that when a profile is viewed, there isn't a clear path to get back to the section where the link to the profile was clicked. Dan suggested that the long sub navigation of names be removed from the profile view to help focus the actions in this view.

Evie wants to display alumni profiles for each of the undergraduate and professional programs programs but all of the alumni profiles are lumped together in the Who We Are section of the website. She has also requested that each profile be automatically moved to the list of alumni profiles when the graduation date on the profile is met.

With the ability to add pages with lists of profiles under program pages in the Students section, Evie finds it inconvenient to update the profiles listed on these pages in addition to updating the profiles listed in the Who We Are section.

Dan and Shawn agreed to review the logistics of how profiles are displayed throughout the website and to make it easier for editors to do so.

Zane suggested adding a third "Alumni" button to the "Meet Our Students" section on the "Professional and Undergraduate Programs" page.

Neuroscience

Cassie proposed adding a "Find a Lab" area on the Department of Neuroscience front page with an autocomplete search bar, and changing the "Get Started" area to "Research Emphasis" all while including a quick way to find the academic information.

Tuition

Shawn mentioned that we made the necessary adjustments to tuition information provided by University Relations, and that we will be making the tuition information "live" in the next few weeks.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Hannah provided the background video to be added to the feature on the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology front page.
