11/7/2019 Meeting

Notes

Snakes

Shawn shared a horrific story about encountering a snake. Zane is very interested in tasing a snake.

Facebook

Shawn really hates Mark Zuckerberg's haircut.

MD Program

Zane mentioned that by the Christmas break would be a good time to have the mock-ups for an updated MD Program landing page and more structured student organization page completed. He thinks that the student organization page mock-up takes priority over the MD Program landing page mock-up.

Residents

Residency Campaign

Along with the "Residencies" video that Hannah produced, Cassie provided a Word document that contains the structure and copy for a residency campaign page. The content is structure to fit the same template used for the Medical Laboratory Science and Match Day campaign pages.

Dan and Shawn agreed to have this page built by Tuesday, November 12th.

Resident Programs

Rather than having 3 separate pages to list resident programs, we will combine these lists into a single Programs page.

Proposed Structure

  • Programs
    • ACGME Programs
      • Residency Programs
      • Fellowship Programs
    • Combined Programs
      • Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Program
    • Non-Standard Fellowship Programs

Additionally, the On This Page area will be used to link to each of the lists of programs.

Cassie will present the mock-up to the appropriate people to hopefully get approval to move forward with making this change in the website.

Contact Us Page

Cassie agreed to adding a Contact Us page to try to help anyone who wants to contact the school get to the correct person or group to contact, including undergraduate, professional, graduate, and MD programs, financial aid, media inquiries, etc. Similar to the Contact Us page on the School of Nursing website, the first item on the page will be a call-to-action to the Questions or Comments? form, followed by a Media Relations link and any desired Directory contacts provided by Cassie.

The link to this page will be in the footer.

Updated Tuition

We attempted to show the group the new standardized tuition pages. The links to each of the breakdowns should be working. Please let Dan and Shawn know if these are not.

As we mentioned, there are few costs that Shawn needs to double check with the University's Financial Aid department. Additionally, tuition seems to be missing for a few of the programs compared to the tuition information that is currently on the website. This is outline below.

  • Undergraduate & Professional
    • Exercise Physiology
    • Immunology and Medical Microbiology (missing)
    • Medical Laboratory Science
    • Health Informatics and Information Management (missing)
    • Occupational Therapy (OT)
    • Physical Therapy
    • Pathologist's Assistant
    • Physician's Assistant
    • Athletic Training (new - missing)
  • Graduate
    • Occupational Therapy (This is not listed under Graduate Programs on the website.)
    • Other Grad Programs - Medicine (Is this for all graduate programs?)
  • Medicine (MD)

Department Physician Conferences

Faculty and staff are unhappy with the process and resources they are provided by WVU Medicine to showcase their physician recruitment events. While these events are primarily for hiring physicians for WVU Medicine, the departments within the school are who host the events.

Cassie and Tara and going to continue to talk to WVU Medicine about solutions for this, and Dan and Shawn agreed that a simple template can be built and provided if need be.
