9/1/22 Meeting

Notes

Events

This is continuing to move along well. Shawn suggested that we should hopefully be rolling it out around the end of September/beginning of October. Sunshine was wondering if an upcoming event would fit the bill for our new Events area. The Dental Career Fair - in mid-October - reaches for an audience of students (likely third-year, as the fourth-year students are already on their way out and likely have a position secured), as well as providers within the community. In the past, there was a request and attempt to advertise things like providers selling their practices, or needing to hire more people, but it has proven to be troublesome. Student Affairs has since been trying to come up with a solution for this. The Career Fair will be renting tables, and is at the HSC. Sunshine has offered to forward us the flyer so we can get a feel for the event. Dan and Rachel agree to discuss it with Shawn afterwards (he had to leave because of issues with the allergist).

Meeting Time Changes

Shawn has been having frustrations schedule-wise and has elected to move our meeting time to 11am-12pm with support from everyone.

Intranet

Sunshine says that migration is moving along. One department has been doing well, while a different department needs to move stuff along. Sunshine says the person responsible for that has been pretty busy, and she's going to touch base with them again in a few weeks. The goal is to have everything migrated by the end of the year.

COHRA

Dan McNeel, the lead researcher of the COHRA project, no longer works with the university. However, he is requesting that we keep *something* on the website. After some back-and-forth, Sunshine has decided to unpublish all but one page of the website. She said the project is still ongoing, but they are not taking on any new participants or doing as in-depth stuff as they used to.

Residents

The residents have been keeping Sunshine busy lately! They've been sending along their bios, CVs, and good photos to be entered into Directory. Sunshine would like to be able to point people to these directory profiles via the clinic website. Overall Sunshine has been trying to get people to be more open and share more personal information, like speaking other languages, social groups, etc, in their directory profiles. Dan and Rachel agreed to talk with Shawn about it more.

YOMI

For some reason YOMI is still not being used much. Since the past meeting, a woman entered the clinic looking for implants and mentioned the robot. Sunshine has been working hard to market implants, so this was exciting news for her. Unfortunately the woman's been trying to get in for a year. Not sure what the deal is. Sunshine is trying to continue pushing it, as well as Ortho.

Social Media and Great Content

Some of the Ortho students started an Instagram page. Sunshine feels it is good, marketable content and photos - hands on things they've done in labs, working with different types of doctors, "Who We Are" type content, etc. She would like to repurpose this awesome content (not directly connect to or advertise their insta) and is trying to figure out a plan to do so.

Workload/Additional Position

Sunshine has been spending a lot of time as of late updating directory, however this should be done by someone more like an administrative person within each group. The Dean was questioning why she was the one doing it, and she explained that if she doesn't make the updates/additions they don't happen at all. The Dean acknowledged Sunshine needs help. She also said someone offered to contribute to a salary, and HSC wanted more information about the potential position.

Renovation Project

The Suncrest clinics are going to be moving into HSC. HSC has given more space to allow for this. The budget is currently around $30 million and Sunshine needs a way to push/promote this tastefully. It was also suggested it may be more suited for social. She is working alongside someone from the foundation, but is concerned about it all kind of being dumped on her. She's going to start by updating the existing "renovations" page on the website. After discussing with Shawn and Dan, we suggest having a loose content page which will point out to a foundations "goal" page situation.
