5/30/19 Meeting

Notes

Originally meant to be a meeting on the 16th, which was cancelled. We talked about a lot in the meeting today, so I broke it up by SOD and WVU Dental.

School of Dentistry

What We Discussed

  • COHRA - We went over the content on their subsite. We agreed that we still think it would be best if this became a set of pages under Research, rather than being a subsite. We created a placeholder page in the meeting for Sunshine to being moving content under. When the time comes and the pages are all in their new home, we will stop hiding that section and create a catch-all redirect referencing the current (but will be old) URL.
    • Staff - Looking at the listing of people, almost all of them should be in directory. Most of the ones who are manually typed out are actually in directory but have a hidden profile. Sunshine is going to let these people know that they need to turn their profiles on. Any bios written out in plain text should be put into the person's directory profile, then removed from the page.
    • Research - This page has a bunch of publications that should be in whoever wrote them's directory profile. Once they're added to their profile(s), a directory listing of those people could be added to this page.
    • What We Do - The "What Will I Be Doing In This Study" header is taken from an old graphic. We agreed that the graphic could be added back in with alt text explaining that it describes the steps above/below it, but the text needs to remain.
  • General Content Look-over - Sunshine has been working on getting her site content updated. We went over some of the more recent changes she's made and confirmed if we thought they were alright. Sunshine would still like to meet with Dave but so far it has not happened.
  • Tuition - We showed Sunshine the new Nursing Tuition Page and talked about how important it is that we prioritize getting a full, accurate breakdown on the website. Our analytics have shown "tuition" is the #1 (and #2, #3,...multiple) search term on not just your website, but also the rest of our schools too. Nursing and Medicine implemented this, didn't announce or advertise it to anyone, and the new tuition pages jumped to one of the top viewed pages in the whole website. I'd like to get it done by the end of Summer. Sunshine will work on collecting all the tuition data, and I will work on building the functionality into Umbraco.

What We Discussed

  • Content - We talked through a lot of questions and discrepancies between what is on the site and what is actually accurate information. Generally speaking, it sounds like the content is in many places incorrect/out-of-date. Whoever is responsible needs to go through and make sure nothing of importance that needs to go into the new website is missing, or that any incorrect information isn't moved on the new website. This is not as important to our team as the new content structure is pretty sound and it likely won't affect our design in a drastic way, but it is extremely (!) important for the sake of your viewers this be done before it's live. The sooner the better, for everyone involved.
    • Locations
      • What locations are there? - According to the website, there's HSC North, Suncrest Buildings, and the United Hospital Center Buildings. Sunshine didn't know anything about the UHC, and also thought services are offered in Wheeling (which isn't on the website).
      • General information - I created a print out for Sunshine to see what exactly will be going on each location's page on the new website, so she can fill in the blanks where content is missing or may be out of date/incorrect.
    • Services
      • What services are offered at each location? - One of the ways we're breaking things down is by Location (HSC North, Suncrest Buildings, etc.).
    • Levels of Care
      • Who will be providing which services (Student, Faculty, Graduate) at each location? We realized that the different levels of care by location/service on the website are not accurate.
      • What is the differences between the levels of care? We know there are differences in cost and time, but what are they exactly? (ex: student clinic fee at check in is $99. What is the check-in fee for a graduate student service? Faculty? etc.)
