Notes

What We Discussed

  • COVID Updates - Sunshine just wanted to let us know that their COVID page will not be getting as many updates anymore. We told her that's totally fine, it doesn't need to be a daily thing. It should just be the most relevant and up-to-date info available that's specific to their students.
  • Tobacco Cessation Program - Sunshine has been going through the website and reviewing everything. She wants to do some work on CE, but specifically mentioned Tobacco Cessation. It has apparently been getting a good amount of attention lately. Their leader just retired, but a replacement is already underway. She mentioned SoD has sort of led the way a bit in terms of schools handling such programs, and they are not offered everywhere. It should be advertised more, as well as the fact that certain programs (DDS and Dental Hygiene) graduate with certification in it. She doesn't think it's a homepage thing, but something more prominent in relevant areas. We told her we could sit down and look things over to get a sense of where it could be used better.
  • Tuition - Sunshine mentioned that in the past she has had someone who's frequently wanted tuition updates, but said person has not been bothering her much lately. She just wanted us to be aware that this situation exists. Bill mentioned that Shawn and Tara have been trying to spearhead Tuition and it is a big goal for them. He said he will pass along what Sunshine shared to them.
  • Analytics - Sunshine has recently started reading some of the analytics newsletters/reports sent to her. She's beginning to learn more about them and think of ways the numbers can be used to gauge stats. We explained that analytics are daunting, especially when you don't know anything about them. Many of our communicators don't read them, so shes not like particularly behind or anything like that.
  • Orthodontics - Back in October, Sunshine pushed a campaign for Ortho - a few billboards, had a go link made, etc. - and had a great response! 27 students, which is the highest response number since around 2016.
  • Social Media - Sunshine mentioned she hasn't posted as much to Social Media and would like to get into the habit of doing it more frequently. She's blocked out time for a post once a week until at least February. She also talked about tracking people from Social Media which fed into more Analytics talk. Either way she'd like to post more and get more engagement for things that aren't events or news stories.
  • WVU Dental - Sunshine mentioned that coupled with social media stuff, she would like to push more campaigns on WVU Dental. She'd like to have a group highlighted each month for whatever reason or event. Rachel mentioned having discussed this a long time ago and said she would look back at her notes to see what she had about it. She also mentioned wanting something to add to be more inviting/enticing. Dan suggested a testimonial like addition, whether that be a whole page or just sporadically throughout the website. Sunshine said she actually has quite a few selfies of people who could give testimonies, as well as anonymous responses filled out by patients after their appointment. We agreed to think more about the concepts and how they could be applied in WVU Dental. We also touched on prices for the clinics and how it's a bit unclear. Sunshine explained that giving exact numbers on the website can be really dicey, when you have people coming in expecting to pay x price but may actually need more work which costs more. This brought about the question of how can we try and clarify this further? People save money, but spend more time. It's a trade-off, but it's certainly less expensive. Just no exact numbers.
