Notes

Shared Resources

  • Shawn added all the shared resource pages.
  • We also added all of the equipment for each of the shared resources after building a template to structure these dynamically.
  • Shawn shared the link for the animal modules and imaging facility as an example along with their equipment and resources.
  • Nicole asked if the URL would change for the animal modules and imaging facility. Alot of these were on WVU Cancer so they would change.  For marketing purposes they could still point to the WVU Cancer entries for now, while the site still exists, but in the long run they will eventually transition to the new website locations.
  • Nicole asked if these need updated in both locations because of grants.  These should be updated on the current website with the explanation that the WVU Cancer site is old and will be retiring in the future.  It is estimated that this may be happening in 3 to 6 months or longer.

C8

  • This entire sub site has all been moved over.
  • When live we will make sure this is structurally where it was in the old site via URL redirects.

Content Pages

  • Nicole asked about the image in the background.  Even though this was planned as part of the design it can certainly be removed.  She indicated that she would inquire about this and get back to us.
  • Nicole mentioned that the diversity statement currently lives on graduate education home page and is more graduate education focused verses the entire office.
    • Shawn mentioned that this might be one of the things tackled once the website is launched. This might take the form of its own page or area. 
    • Public health is the main school we have worked with this on so far to piece together a whole area.
    • We will start with a base content page and then make it a landing page if it grows. 
    • Nicole mentioned that this statement would also be useful for NIH and other grants. 
    • Wendy asked her to send what she has and she could start to begin working on it.
  • Nicole asked if it is okay to remove the structure only pages.  These were only there to preserve content while we built templates, so she is able to remove those to avoid duplicated efforts in updating.

Home Page

Dan and Matt started added the afternoon of science listening event content to the homepage but we have not yet updated the photography yet.

Graduate Education Page

  • We currently have a placeholder for a profile and were wondering if there was an actual profile that they would like featured there.   Nicole mentioned that she could pick one of these for this area.
  • At the time there were only three T-32 training programs listed on the landing page. Nicole mentioned there was another "Systems toxicology" and it has been submitted for review.  There is also an "Immunotherapetic" program that will have content as well but will be hidden for now.  We will link these up as they are created.
  • Dr. Berrebi originally wanted to keep the concierge section but then they looked at the form data to see that they haven't gotten a request since February.  She said to get rid of it for now.  We will comment that out for the time being so it can be brought back easily.  Nicole mentioned that perhaps a form submission would not be necessary for this area and it could go to a vanity email instead.

Research Page

Shawn also asked Nicole about a featured profile to have on this page too.  She might draw from the mentors too.

About Page

  • Shawn asked if their was some general information that could be put together for this page and the "faculty and staff" and "About HSC" pages could live under that page.
  • Nicole mentioned that the "About HSC" page would just point back to the main HSC page instead of having its own page.  This would be similar to the centers and institutes page and we could link out to those established pages instead.

Events

  • Nicole placed a single instance for the reoccurring undergraduate workshop event into this area. This event will be occurring through the fall.  The afternoon of science and women at work will have reoccurring event date as well.
  • Since Van Liere is not going on at this point we might substitute with something else.  Nicole suggested that they would be having speakers for diversity week and would check to see if there is a photo that can be used.  This will be an event that will need to be added to the events too.

Covid / Announcement Pages

  • Nicole mentioned that they just have general information about covid and if there should be a specific page that houses all of this information.  Shawn agreed and said he will discuss with Dan and Matt.
  • Shawn also mentioned that this same structure can be used for general announcements as well.  Nicole mentioned that she is not sure because these occur maybe once ever couple of months.  She would lean less on the general but will ask.

Pre and Post Award Content

This is the page where the content was written out as opposed to just using an inaccessible graphic.  Nicole is waiting to hear back from the stakeholders on this.

General Content

  • Shawn called Wendy Holdren in to help with content and structuring concerns for some of the pages.  She helps with other HSC and Health umbrella sites.
  • Wendy is also able to help with any verbage we would need to word-smith or refine.
  • Embedded videos can be added by using the macro in a content page.  If you click the "Insert macro" you can select the "Embed Video" option and supply a YouTube link, this will embed a video on a content page.
  • Shawn asked if Laura Gibson or other stakeholders has taken a look at the progress and website and if she had any thoughts.  She saw the initial color and structure and didn't have any issues.  Nicole said she was okay with updating and changing some section when she meet last week.   There are no concerns.  Julie and Graduate education page is good to go.

Moving Forward

  • Shawn mentioned that he will start to be in contact daily and maybe zoom if we need to ask about something.
  • We will work with Nicole and Wendy to assure that all landing pages are linked up and pointing to all the right places.  Also make sure that content doesn't need updated as well.
  • We will work on the about page this week.
  • Wendy will be helping this week to remove the email addresses in the content pages.  WVU as a whole does not want these to exist on the pages and we will substitute these with directory profiles instead. 
  • Wendy will also help with some content structural things like lists which need to become structural lists.
  • After website launches we ill roll the meetings back to monthly but we will keep tuned to the slack channel and meet if the need arises.
  • Soft Monday midday launch and maybe just on zoom prior to make sure everything is good to go.
  • Will meet with her on zoom one more time this week.
