Notes

Newsroom

Shawn was informed that WVU Medicine will be building their own application for handling news.

Tara determined that "WVU in the News" type news posts are important in every form, including linking to external news sources that write about WVU and that publish news written by WVU. "WVU in the News" will become a new post type. Wendy and Bill will audit how many current news stories link to a story from an external news source or list stories from external news sources. Tyler suggested also using YouTube playlists to aggregate "WVU in the News" video on YouTube.

The new announcement post type will have an option to link to an event in the new events module.

Tara mentioned that two important features to include in Newsroom are the ability to view analytics about each post and having a media page with each post which can include links to Smugmug.

Shawn will be talking to Jimmy and the lead programmer about potentially adding an option for each user in Directory to set the user as a communicator or contact for a specific school or group which can then be used to automatically set a contact for each primary category in Newsroom. This will help with automatically replacing the contact information for a post if a new communicator is added.

Addiction

Matt is working on the landing page and content page mock-ups. The intention is for the landing pages to have rich photography and the mock-up will help Bill provide a direction to Brian for photography.

Hub

Bill will lead the migration of Health Sciences websites targeted toward internal audiences into the Health Sciences Hub website. We will move forward with creating a space for internal content for the School of Dentistry first as Sunshine has been preparing this content to easily transition it to the Hub. The School of Medicine is also currently generating content that needs to be added to Hub.

Jason will be available to help with creating pages for resources under the main sections of the Health Sciences Hub website and with adding sub-site pages and sections.

Yesterday, Tara passed along an email that stated that direct links to the WVU ITS Knowledge Base or Service Requests will likely break on Dec. 19. Shawn said that any of the affected links will only be in the HSC ITS website.

HCOP

As the HCOP group is still trying to restore the HCOP domain, Tara decided that the domain for the HCOP website should be health.wvu.edu/hcop. Shawn suggested that the long-form version of the URL also be created for SEO. The benefits of using this domain are that it's future-proof and this will eliminate any costs for registering the domain or obtaining an SSL certificate.

With this change, the HCOP group will be responsible for updating marketing materials.
