November 17, 2021 Meeting

Notes

WVU Calendar

The University's contract with the current vendor expires in January and the University will be using a new calendar vendor called Localist by January. The University is responsible for communicating this change to each school's communicators and IT and for training users.

Our lead programmer will continue to cache the provided calendar API to improve the performance of displaying events in our websites.

Projects in-progress

The Newsroom application, the updated events module, and the Addiction website are moving along.

Health Sciences home page

The University will be using social media to push information about getting COVID-19 booster vaccinations after the Thanksgiving holiday.

We agreed to remove the Diversity Week messaging from the Health Sciences home page. Bill and Wendy will update the messaging about the availability of booster vaccinations and we will add the "COVID-19 2021 Holiday Safety" video that Tyler is working on this afternoon.

HCOP

As the HCOP group is still trying to restore the HCOP domain, Tara decided that the domain for the HCOP website should be health.wvu.edu/hcop. Shawn suggested that the long-form version of the URL also be created for SEO. The benefits of using this domain are that it's future-proof and this will eliminate any costs for registering the domain or obtaining an SSL certificate.

With this change, the HCOP group will be responsible for updating marketing materials.

Videos

Tyler is working on two videos, one with Lisa Costello and the other about COVID-19 safety over the holidays.

Brochure updates

The marketing group is working on updating the Fast Facts and Health brochures and writing this updated content to be used on the website. Tara hopes to use the website to keep figures up to day and to provide a PDF print version of each brochure.

School of Pharmacy tuition

Christa made us aware that she updated the tuition costs in the School of Pharmacy website per the Dean's request which obscures the actual costs.

Tara suggested potentially linking out to tuition costs on the websites maintained by University Relations to resolve the issues with schools listing their own tuition.

COVID-19 safety protocols

The University may update COVID-19 safety protocols after the holidays.
