Grants

We revisited the information that Bill received from Lori Aciavati about a new grant awarded within WVU Cancer that is not research focused. Since this type of grant is more "service to the state" focused, we discussed potentially presenting this grant as outreach or an initiative on the Community page instead. We agree that the amount awarded for this type of grant could be viewed more negatively by a public audience so we will still include a field for the amount awarded in Umbraco to hopefully use a highlighted figure later as we collect for of these types of grants.

Our intention is to also present the School of Dentistry outreach and the School of Public Health community-focused grants on the Community page. Shawn mentioned that once we have all of the websites in a single Umbraco in 2023, the outreach and community-focused grants can be dynamically shared between the WVU Health website and the school websites.

Maps

We discussed completely replacing the scrolling map graphics and figures on the Community page with individual figures and smaller graphics to represent students, residents, and community outreach across the state, including updating the number of School of Nursing campuses.

Shawn mentioned that we can work with Rose McCluskey to use the Tracker application to gather the number of residents practicing across the state and where they're practicing.

Lastly, Bill suggested that we find ways to include information about the other campuses on the Community page and throughout the WVU Health website.

Photos

Jess inquired about updating the photo at the top of the Community page and we reviewed the desired photo options. This lead to a discussion about treating the top of each landing page as a "cover", similar to the "cover" on the front page of the WVU Health website, with the ability to choose from different layouts and to "stage" updates prior to making them live.

Also, we agreed that we should add the ability to add a caption for these photos.

For the next meeting

In our next monthly website meeting, we will take a look at the Communication Guide and how we want to move forward with using it.

We will also review the Microsoft Clarity data for the WVU Health website.

The Microsoft Clarity tracking was added to the School of Medicine website about 4 weeks ago to gather page-level analytics. We reviewed some of the features including clicked links ranked by most clicked to least clicked and the average distance that users scroll on each page.
