February 8, 2022 Meeting

Notes

Hub

Shawn showed Jess and Bill the process for adding an "HSC Employee Hub - Sub-Site" at the root of Hub and under an existing section under Hub.

Jess and Bill will review the internal-facing websites at the Health Sciences level to determine which content should be moved into the Hub.

We shared our suggestions for content that can potentially be moved into the Hub.

  • https://health.wvu.edu/finance-and-business/
  • https://www.hsc.wvu.edu/hscsafety/

Diversity

Dan gave Jess and Bill an overview of how to edit each of the sections of the Diversity website.

The Diversity website is ever-evolving and new ideas for adding content to the website or for improving the website are always welcome.

Categories in SOLE News

No single individual is assigned to the Research or the Centers & Institutes primary categories in SOLE News. Groups throughout the Health Sciences campus use the secondary categories under these primary categories for their individual research related stories and stories from these primary categories are never actually displayed in any of the websites. Since only primary categories and share stories with other primary categories and not with secondary categories under another primary category, there is an abundance of "unapproved" stories in these primary categories.

While the intention is to provide the ability for primary and secondary categories to share posts with all other primary and secondary categories in the upcoming Newsroom application, Shawn suggested that at last the secondary categories under Centers & Institutes become new primary categories.

HSCommunity

The ENGAGE section was recently introduced in the HSCommunity email to invite users to share their experiences and attitudes towards a health-related situation. Once the experiences are gathered, Health Sciences Communcations will reach out to experts to respond to each experience.

Jess inquired about displaying these experiences and expert responses somewhere on the Diversity or Health Sciences websites. Shawn suggested that a place for these items be added to the upcoming updated Community section of the Health Sciences website.

Health Sciences home page

Bill requested that a more permanent section for COVID-19 information be added to the Health Sciences home page, leaving room at the top to highlight other Health Sciences information.

We discussed "low-hanging" options to potentially highlight on the home page:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Black History Month
  • LGBT History Month
  • Doctor's Day
  • Match Day
  • Nurses Day
  • National Public Health Week
  • Healthcare Simulation Week
  • Campus milestones
  • etc.
