April 26, 2022 Meeting

Notes

Commencement

The communicators in each school are working on creating graduate profiles while Tyler is working on potential video profiles. One notable video profile he may be working on is about a School of Pharmacy student who has completed rotations in West Virginia and abroad in Oman.

Wendy Holdren is interviewing at least one graduate over zoom and potentially in person which will provide an opportunity to capture actual video. Each school needs to provide at least 1 graduate profile either by May 4th or by the end of this week.

Profiles will be created in each school website and pulled into the commencement website using an API.

Next year, profiles will probably be created in the Newsroom application which will allow us to aggregate and feature all news related to commencement.

We will update the messaging, information, and the live stream links in the Health Sciences Commencement website.

WVU Health home page

Jess will provide the message and possibly a photo option to promote commencement on the home page of the WVU Health website. There will not be a notable speaker this year.

Addiction

Jess and Bill are working with Olivia to improve the messaging throughout the upcoming Addiction website to be clearer, especially on the "The Issue" and "Our Approach"  pages.

Research projects

Bill reach out to Nicole Stout for more information about their grant(s), including the amount and time frame of the grant, and he has not hear back yet.

Bill will reply to Nicole Beason's offer to provide a list of the notable Research and Graduate Education grants/projects.

We will eventually display an engaging figure with a link to the research projects page on the WVU Health Research page that is dynamically calculated from actual information in each grant.

School of Medicine departments and programs

We will be preparing to launch the Departments and Programs page under the School of Medicine website in the coming weeks.

Newsroom

The programmer working on the Newsroom application is currently working on the category management piece and will be moving onto the post management piece next.

Events module

The upcoming events module should be ready to use in the next week or two.

WVU Calendar

Tara and Jess are writing instructions for how to manage events in the WVU Calendar.

Shawn reiterated that UR needs to provide support for using the WVU Calendar and that the upcoming events module is exclusively for promoting events rather than for presenting all events.

As Bill will take over editing several Health Sciences level websites, we will use this as an opportunity to figure out a process and system for faculty and staff to submit desired edits using a ticketing system or equivalent.

Tara suggested using a WuFoo form which can integrated with Teamwork to automatically create a new issue/task.

Bill and Tara inquired about compiling a list of websites that belong under the WVU Health hierarchy with the current list of editors for each so that they can evaluate which websites should be moved into Hub which websites that Bill should take over editing.

Media Resources

Dan will add the desired media resources page to the Communication area of the WVU Health website.

PDF Accessibility Remediation

On April 15th, Tara shared a list of paid vendors that can help with making PDF files accessible. We agreed that communicators should be encouraged to use paid vendors for this.
